When it came to our most recent project, we really wanted to make a statement. We were upholstering a Mastercraft Boat and knew that the upholstery would be one of the key features. We decided to go with a bright and bold pattern for the seats, and a complementary solid color for the kick panel. The end result was amazing! The boat looked brand new, and the colors really popped. We were so happy with the outcome that we decided to take some pictures to show off our work. One seat, done properly
Sometimes the job is not the whole boat, it is one seat that cracked, faded, or tore ahead of its neighbors. Driver seats usually go first, since they get the most sun and the most use.
The challenge with a single seat is blending. New vinyl next to five-year-old vinyl can stick out like a fresh fender on an old truck, so we match color, grain, and even gloss level before we cut anything. Then the seat is stripped, the foam replaced or reshaped with high-density stock, and the new cover sewn to the factory seam lines with UV-stable thread. Rusted staples come out, stainless goes in, and the base gets checked while the seat is open, because that is the cheapest moment to fix it. Back on the boat, it should take a sharp eye to spot which seat is the new one.
