Elegant Wingback Chair Restored with Hand-Tied Coil Springs
This timeless wingback chair underwent a complete transformation in our upholstery workshop. Known for its tall back, graceful wings, and sturdy presence, the wingback chair is a true classic that deserves traditional craftsmanship. To ensure lasting comfort and support, we rebuilt the seat foundation using the eight-way hand-tied coil spring method.
Unlike mass-produced furniture that relies on inexpensive webbing or foam-only construction, hand-tied coil springs are individually secured in eight different directions with twine. This meticulous process provides:
-
Superior comfort with even weight distribution
-
Exceptional durability for decades of use
-
Authenticity that honors the chair’s original design
For the upholstery, we selected a soft neutral fabric with a subtle texture. Its versatile tone complements modern, transitional, and traditional interiors, allowing this piece to shine as either an accent chair or part of a refined seating arrangement. The rolled arms, curved wings, and cabriole legs were carefully preserved, giving the chair an inviting yet sophisticated presence.
This restoration not only enhanced the chair’s appearance but also brought back its structural integrity, ensuring it will remain a functional and elegant part of the home for years to come.
