Building a bed from scratch
A custom upholstered bed is one of the few projects where we get to build the comfort in from the very first layer. A made-to-order double like this comes together as frame padding, upholstered panels, and a fabric chosen to suit the bedroom it is headed for.
The headboard is where upholstery earns its keep on a bed. It needs enough padding to lean against for late-night reading, a cover pulled tight enough to stay smooth for years, and clean edges, since it sits at eye level every single morning. We sew the panels on our walking-foot Consew machines and fit them so the seams line up square with the frame. It is the same structural approach we bring to all our furniture work.
