Interior boat cushions have a sneaky enemy. It is not sun or spray, it is the slow, quiet dampness of a closed cabin, which turns ordinary foam and fabric into a science experiment by August.
So for interior work we pick materials the way a boat builder would. Foam cores that release moisture instead of holding it, covers in marine-grade vinyl or performance fabric with mildew inhibitors, and UV-stable thread for the cushions that catch sun through the companionway. We pattern each cushion to the cabin’s odd angles, add zippers so covers can come off for cleaning, and fit snaps or hook tape so nothing slides around in a chop. Small choices, but they decide whether the cabin still smells fresh in year five.
