Few pieces date a room faster than a swivel vanity chair, since bedroom and bathroom fabrics show their decade in a hurry. Recovering one is a quick project with an outsized payoff, and it happens to be a fine way to try a bold fabric without committing a whole sofa to it.
The seat comes off its swivel base for proper access, old fabric and tired padding come away, and fresh foam goes on before the new cover is pulled and stapled. Skirted styles take some extra sewing so the pleats hang straight and swing clean when the chair turns. While it is apart we check the swivel mechanism too, because a smooth spin is half the charm of these little chairs.
