Pattern matching on a small canvas
Designer fabric raises the stakes on even a small ottoman. When yardage costs what good yardage costs, there is no margin for a crooked motif or a wasted cut, so the layout gets planned on paper before the shears ever touch cloth. Clients often bring fabric they hunted down themselves, and we treat every inch of it accordingly.
We center the dominant pattern on the top, align the repeats down the sides, and cut the welt so it frames rather than fights the design. Corners get folded and stitched to keep the pattern flowing around them. It is the kind of detail nobody consciously notices and everybody responds to, which describes most of what we do. A small piece done precisely can carry a whole room’s look.
