V berth cushions and the art of odd angles
There is not a single square corner in a V berth, which is exactly why owners bring these cushions to us instead of ordering something rectangular and hoping. Every edge tapers, every angle is custom, and a berth cushion that fits badly slides around all night.
Building a set that fits means templating the berth itself, then shaping foam to match. Sleeping aboard also brings a special problem, condensation. Warm sleeper, cold hull, and by morning the cushion underside is damp. Our answer:
- Breathable or vented underliners so air moves beneath the cushion
- Foam that releases moisture rather than trapping it
- Zippered covers that come off for washing and airing out
Topside it can be vinyl or a soft marine fabric, depending on how you use the berth, and every seam gets sewn on our walking-foot machines for a clean, durable edge that holds up to years of climbing in and out.
